Volunteering

Volunteers play a crucial role in the work of Kingston Bereavement Service, either as counsellors, clinical supervisors or trustees.  There are over 50 volunteers working with us at any one time and we are extremely grateful for their commitment and support.  We offer all our volunteers opportunities for continual professional development through our programme of in-house training days, as well as regular supervision, involvement in new developments and open evenings.

Counsellors

Our counsellors are either fully qualified, counselling students on placement or members of the community with a particular interest in bereavement, perhaps because they have themselves been bereaved.  After interview, all our counsellors take part in our 'Introduction to Bereavement Counselling' training programme. We are not currently  recruiting counsellors on placement. For those who have already been trained as bereavement counsellors and have experience of working with those who have been bereaved, we have opportunities  for joining us throughout the year.  Please contact the office on 020 8547 1552 or email us if you would be interested in becoming a volunteer counsellor with Kingston Bereavement Service.

Clinical supervisors

We always welcome enquiries from those experienced and fully qualified counsellors who are looking to develop their counselling careers and are considering or have completed a supervision course.  Supervisors normally have a group of three or four supervisees which meet for two to three hours every three weeks.  Please contact the office on 020 8547 1552 or email us if you would be interested in becoming a supervisor.

Trustees

We are always keen to recruit new management commitee members with relevant skills and experience.  The management committee meets every two months and we would welcome enquiries from people who may wish to volunteer in this way.  Please contact the office on 020 8547 1552 or email us for further information.
